I bought my '83 in May with 213K on it and have 220K now. I used Castrol 20/50 for the first 2 oil changes until I realized we have Del-Vac 15/40 here at work so I used that this time around. I'm a die-hard synthetic user and I'm wonering if at this stage in life,it's worth it to use something like Mobil 1 15/50. Any feedback would be appreciated... TIA..

Stay with the Mobile Delvac. Mobil 1 is a very good synthetic oil that I´ve used in a turbocharged gasolin engine earlier. But that car had been used with synthetic since new. If you pour it into an old engine it will wash it inside and seals will probably leak. It can even move around dirt that get stuck in narrow chanels. Use Delvac and for the money you save, change it twice as often!

Ive switched four high-milage diesels (lowest:160k highest: 325k) to synth (mobil1) and have had nothing but the best results. Even a little better milage. But I have also heard a few stories of folks having problms with it as well, so it's your decision. I would certainly never put synth in an auto tranny...
