Anyone use Autel MP808 or similar to delete EGR or other related systems?

Hi all,

I've recently had a few issues with my GL320 including the exhaust pressure sensor failing and the EGR valve triggering a code. My mechanic replaced the sensor and the EGR valve appears to need repair, the plastic part is coming loose and disconnecting but I've got it working temporarily. Looks like to replace the EGR valve is like $1,000. Was doing some research and sounds like some people delete the EGR using Green Diesel Engineering or Malone. I'm not really sure how that works but sounds like programming the ECU.

I happened to purchase an Autel MP808 last year to troubleshoot several issues across my cars and I know it can do some programming of the Mercedes, but I've never ventured into that side of it yet. I don't want to create more problems by experimenting so was wondering if anyone has made EGR or other edits using a tool like that or if the only option is to pay one of these tuning companies or if I should just spend the $1,000 on a new EGR valve. My mechanic did also mention that Mercedes was running a campaign on EGR valves for 2009 and newer models, but not sure if there would be a way to get Mercedes to include my 2007 but thought I may also try and make a call and see what I can learn on that front too.

Hello. MB will not include any vehicle under 2009. With that said, you can hire an attorney to rep your case and hope for the best. EGR valve is not that hard to replace, space is tight, but doable as a DIY project.

EGR valve is anywhere between 200 and 600$, depending where you buy, or used in ebay, for less.

Reprogramming the values on the boards for a 'delete diesel' is not that hard, however you should know what you're doing and don't always trust what Google search comes up with. Reputable shops have knowledge and history with such vehicles, BUT, EPA is coming HARD for people that are in the business of 'delete diesel' so owners on both sides beware.

Price to reprogram for 'diesel delete' is 1500$. Shop local to me does it and I did inquire about it a while back. GL.

Just a follow up on what's happening in the 'diesel delete' world... What's gonna happen is when all the diesel trucks/SUV go for their inspection, they're gonna be looked over with a very fine toothcomb...

So it looks like the back cover of my EGR became loose, I pushed it back in and taped it down to hopefully secure it but will probably take a crack at a DIY replacement next time I do the air filters, etc. Thinking maybe going with a used one unless there is a good source for new at a reasonable price.
