Has anyone tried taking the drivers side mirror from a right hand drive car and putting it in the passenger side of a left hand drive so you have the auto dimming mirrors on both sides?

Question: Is the wiring harness set up for that possibility?

Could be interesting.... [:)]

right hand drive cars have different shape of mirror? i was thinking about this too but there's electronics involve so i gave up, i believe the dimming of the mirrors are controlled by the sensor located in the rearview mirror. does anyone know if we can get bluish mirrors instead of yellowish?

I don't know how's that possible? It an odd shape and not like a circle or square.
Linh, he's not talking about reversing just the glass, but using the whole right hand assembly. A right hand drive car's right hand mirror assembly is the same shape and orientation as our right hand mirror assembly. But, as the driver sits on the right, it's glass is auto dimming instead of the left glass being auto dimming as ours over here.

That bottom photo shows some nasty filliform corrosion....

There isn't much you can do about that other then have the wheel refinished.......[xx(]

All it takes is a tiny nick in the clearcoat .............

Filliform corrosion works it's way under the paint and eats at the aluminum. The clearcoat may be fully intact over the damage. It's just the way this form of corrosion works. [:(]

RE: All it takes is a tiny nick in the clearcoat .............

I think filiform corrosion is more typical of alloys than of pure aluminum; this is one of the reasons "alclad" (pure aluminum plated onto a sheet of other alloys of aluminum) is used on aircraft skins rather than just plain alloy sheets. It also polishes better than most alloys because it is softer and homogeneous.

Maybe they should have done an Al plate after machining our wheels.
