I need to replace the passenger seatbelt latch in our 2000 SL500, and the Mercedes DVD instructions say remove the seat first. That makes sense because the latch attachment is between the seat and center tunnel and there is no clearance to remove the attaching bolt.

There are 8 torx screws holding the seat rails to the body, and I can get at and remove 7 of them. I can see an edge of one, but don't see any way to get to it to remove. Tried moving the seat forward and backward.

If anyone has been successful, I can send a picture from the DVD that shows the screw I am talking about.

Thanks in advance

Chris

Thanks. I got the cushions off easily, but there are more than four bolts holding the seat rails to the body. I can get to and easily remove all but one bolt, which is barely visible and I can't see how to get access to. I was hoping someone who has done it before can recall how they got to that bolt.

Well, as usual, BobTerry99 was right. Raising the seat allowed access to the hidden bolt. I was able to reach and remove all the bolts to replace the passenger seatbelt latch. Everything now works as advertised. 75 minutes in total.
