I'm moving from Chicago to North Carolina next month, and have decided to rent a 12' trailer to do the job with my ML320.
Just thought I'd see if anyone had a hitch for sale before I buy new.

Looks like either the Reese or Draw-Tite kits are the ones to go with correct? Neither of them need cutting? I read a post that stated the Draw-Tite needed the bumper opening to be cut somewhat.

Thanks in advance,

I have one just removed from my ML430, this includes the tongue and ball. You are correct there has to be a notch taken out of the bumper if not done already, however there are OEM covers for the trailer hitch cut out just like the right and left tow hook covers you see in the rear bumper.

sly, I'm tired, but think I read you wrong. If you install are you saying there's a cover to put over the hitch? minus tongue/ball? I need to put on the 55 but damn to be exposed looks ugly IMO. has taht GMC, Explorer look of 'i paid a lot for a TRUCK that just happens to seat 7'. If there is a cover feature, painted or not, I'm more in that column now. if it's OEM how much? hitch + wiring was around 220 last I looked, but a cover WOW.

OEM hitch is a waste of time (no longer available through MB dealer network) and would be really expensive even if you could find one

I went with the class 3 (5000#) drawtite hitch and modulite adapter from etrailers.

ML is a great tow vehicle
