It's here in Utah. Looks like a standard 300e with an amg bodykit but here's some pics. Find it on the ksl.com classifieds if interested.

If interested call the guy. I've seen him trying to sell it for a few months. I think he had said it was owned by an MB mechanic. I think the kit looks good but without doing the engine and suspension upgrades, what's the point?

There were no 88 models with a twin cam 3.0L motor. The twin cam motor was introduced in 90 and on US models only came in the 300CE's. 90 300SL's also had the motor. True 88 AMG's had no mods to the engine that I am aware of, only suspension and body mods.

Well perhaps it is a "true" amg. he says nothing about the suspension. how would one know if it had been modified?

Suspension pieces (springs) will have a series of AMG marking on them. Possible that the gauge cluster will have white faced instruments and say "AMG". Contact Jonathan, he has one in his shop and would be able to better tell you what to look for.

Most probably just a body kit....certainly easy enough to verify. I would think he'd be asking more for a 'true' AMG in decent condition, but these are hard times for a lot of us.

I agree with this statement except for one thing... I would put hard assets, gold, or silver instead of cash... Just my 2 cents :)

And about the car... does anyone know of a place that sells copy AMG body kits? I would love this look for my 300D! :D

its funny, i was thinking about that two. due to the government spending and govt debt, the u.s. dollar will lose value- and check out the article to see what happened in north korea-- its unlikely to happen here but imagine if something less dramatic did!. gold is always a good hedge against paper money inflation
North Korea revalues currency, destroying personal savings - washingtonpost.com

as for w124 body kits, check out ebay, there are lots of styles- some are amg-esque
happy new year w124 brothers (and sisters if you are out there)

The kit appears to be AMG....the side skirts, rear apron and trunk top duck tail but it's missing the front spoiler.

My guess is that it is a real AMG kit..
Missing jacking point cover on the side skirt may be the proof.
Replica kits usually don't have the jacking point opening.

As far as performance mods AMG did mod the M103-12V in 1988 to a 3.2L displacement and 245HP.

A look at the engine may indicate if it has been modified by any of the AMG USA locations.
