I would assume this is extremely difficult because of the SmartKey...

My understanding is that the engine computer will not function without the SmartKey in the ignition. If so, you won't be able to circumvent the security with wires, you'd have to do it with software and wires.

The ECU, the EIS (electronic ignition switch) and the key are all intrinsically linked. The controller sends some data to the key, which encrypts it, sends it back and the controller checks its ok, and if so the EIS unlocks the steering and the ECU is enabled for starting ...
