Anyone else have windshield haze in the center windshield?

2013 Views 12 Replies 1 Participant Last post by Guest (MBNZ)
I have noticed this over the past few months. There is a patch of haze in the center of my C240 windshield that when washed shows up again a few days later. What is it and how do I get rid of it?

It's actually a TSB and they replace the center airvent.
TSB? 'splain, Lucy (por favor)
Technical Service Bulletin (more..)

I got a call from the dealer and they ordered the new redesigned top vent and will have it tomorrow. If Chris didn't post it I would not have researched it and it never would have gotten fixed. Thanks.
Re: It's a feature.

WHOA WHOA WHOA, i have a 2002 C230 coupe, and i get the haze all the time, is this a defect, if I order the new vent, is it free or is it just something I would have to do with my own money ? whats different about the vent, and what settin do you guys keep your ac knob on ?
Re.

I had no idea. I'll call my dealer and have them fix it.

Also, I keep my AC on 65 hit auto when I get in car to cool it off, then shut it off and put the fans on a low setting (center air channels). That does the trick on those hazy and humid Boston summer days.
Humidity has nothing to do with the haze

I live in a desert, it's not humid but I get the haze. My upper vent is always closed because it's noisy yet I still get the haze coating on the windshield. My A/C is always on auto and it's set to about 71 degrees most of the time and the vent control knob is set to the two square boxes at the 9 o'clock position.

I've heard 2 stories on the replacement vent. On the forums I've heard that the new vent is made from a different material that doesn't release the chemical vapors and the dealer said the new vent is redesigned to direct air away from the windshield. Either way it can't be as bad as before and it's free and I get a E320 for 2 days. It's up to you if this bothers you enough because I have a friend with a 2001 C320 and he never noticed it until I pointed it out to him.
here's the replacement part #

203 830 11 18 7206 (the 7206 is the color code for a charcoal interior).

it should be covered and free.
Re: here's the replacement part # - Thanks!

Thanks, I have an Orion Blue C230K with Charcoal interior, and mine does exhibit the haze. I'll be in touch with the dealer to follow up. The info is much appreciated.

Is the a TSB for the 230 for all 203 models?
