I went to this audio shop today and the guy offered me an MB amplifier (350w) and MIK 12" sub for around 90 quid all in...

Is that a bargin?

That's likely 350w max, not rms.

In my previous car, a 12" Kicker Comp sub (150w rms, 300max) and a rockford fosgate 200m amp (200w rms, 400w max), a bandpass box, wiring, and installation, came out to about $300.
