Hi!

Does anybody have pictures of a remoed, but assembled rear axle of a 500 or 560SE/SEL/SEC? The one with the alloy trailing arms :)

Or a shot from underneath would probably be equaly well.

The reason is; I want to see it. as I consider swapping one over to my W123 (the trailing arms at least). But before i track one down, I'd like to see one :)

Thanks a lot in advance!

Regards,
Jan

Hello...

The 560's would be a Gen II (series 2 in EU) and they have a different differential/rear axle. The mounting points are different than on the earlier Gen I's. The 500s can be either Gen I or Gen II.. but both typically have a ratio of 2.24 while a European 560 have 2.65 and depending on the marker a ratio of 2.47. Which ratio are you looking for?

I am not entirely sure, but I believe the Gen I's are closer than Gen IIs in mounting points... so I would look for a pre-09/1985 W126 for your swap. You can also look into W116 and 107's as they share the same differential mounting points.

Good luck!
