Hi, Does anyone know how this vehicle runs? Track record? I'm thinking about buying one for 5k very clean and 100k miles. Does anyone have mechanical info on this car? Thanks.

I have an 88 300E with 197,000 miles on it. No major problems. They are known to leak oil, but the engines are bullet proof. Have had to replace the usual due to normal wear- water pump, fuel pump. Still on original transmission. I think $5K sounds a little high. Good luck

Great motor indeed. It better be sweeeet for $5k though! I see them average between high 3's and up.

I got a 91 300 SE (S Class/126) – same inline six - with 103,000 miles for $5k. You might want to keep looking.

I have an 88, purchased it last summer, with 219K on the clock, Im up to 249K and it treats me better than my wife. With regular maintenance and a few dollars here and there you can have a great vehicle. I paid $3500. and it was well worth it. Try to find one with all books and records, and have it checked out, but you can find a great vehicle in the 124.

i have heard that these engines just keep going and going. i saw an elderly couple with one that i seem to remember had 1.2 million miles on it!!! good luck! [8D]
