INTO A ML320 CHASSIS?

SHOULD BE ABLE TO ACQUIRE A USED ML55 ENGINE AND ECU AND TRANSMISSION AND TRANSFER CASE

AS WELL AS UPGRADING THE BRAKES

THOUGHTS 馃挱 WOULD BE APPRECIATED

I guess it would be but I have a ton of work done and money spent on my 320 just saying

Yes it can be done. I put one in my 430. You鈥檒l need the gearbox and diffs as well though to do it in the 320. The 430 has the same ratio鈥檚 as the 55, the 320 is different.
The chip out of the 55 ecu needs to be soldered into your 320 ecu. There is a thread on the change over.

How have we gone from swapping engines to looking at paintwork and picking number plates.

Go buy a 55 or a 500. What is more fun then owning an ML? Owning 2 MLs!

To change the brakes you also need a different steering knuckle. The attachment of the caliper is different. You cannot just swap the discs and calipers.

Also many do not realize an 55 and 500 use the same front and rear calipers.

1999 ML430s used the same floating calipers as the V6 models, but after 2000 they upgraded to the Brembos, which were also used on a number of other M-B high-performance models.

When I pulled my set from the 鈥03 ML500, I just pulled the whole knuckle assembly. It was easier than pulling the calipers alone. A battery-powered impact wrench made short work of the axle nuts.
