I am getting my 2000 E55 AMG monoblocks refinished at a local wheel repair shop. One of the sales people told me they would look nice if I let them polish the lip. I have never seen this and was wondering if anybody has any pics. I have a silver W210, I'm leaning heavily towards just keeping the stock look of the rims. Any suggestions?????

I just had all 4 lips on my rims refinished...they grinded the edge to match the rest of the rim and clear coated so it looks same as rest of rim....Ill try to get a pic later in the week.

I personally would not polish the lip as it will look like you put on chrome trim ring from auto palace...a dramtic asthetic differentiation between the lip and the rest of the rim will make the rim and the car look cheap IMO.

Here is my rim that I had refinished and I had them polish the lip, it doesn't look cheesy and I get a lot of compliments on my rims on the car. Sorry the pic is a bit dark it was taken in my garage.

I did it - had a little bit of curb rash - killed two birds with one stone - got rid of the minoe curb rash, and have wheels that look like new (better). Only problem is that I did not clear coat mine, and I have to buff out the lips every couple of months - no big deal - a little Mothers aluminum polish and they come right back.

I Had the AMG Rims polished on my W210 ... Full Polished...As The Stock Silver Finish didnt look good on the Black Wagon

I think polished monoblocks would like great on a black W210, I'm still thinking, that on the silver , stock is the way to go..... of course it's all personal preferance.

My car is Silver - honestly its not that big of a difference going from the "stock" look to the "polished" look. I'm thinking that the stock wheels are polished too, but the clear coat that the factory uses is a semi flat that makes them look just a little duller than polished.

no, polished rims look closer to a chrome appearance. Many rims are painted silver, the monoblocks are painted silver.

I'm just refering to the lips on the Monoblocks - the centers are painted, the lips are polished (somewhat) and then the whole thing is clear coated with a semi gloss. I left the center sections alone (they looked fine) and just had the lips polished - looks trick.

TRUE - yes the stock mono lips are all polished from the factory with clear coat finished.
