Sad to say this may be a transmission leak as it's sort of off to the left center underneath the vehicle, baffled so far

If they're bad enough to leak, holy smokes you've been driving the ole girl with failed mounts for a long time! You're going to be blown away with how smooth these things are with new mounts. Make sure you do the pair and do yourself a favor and hit the underside with a pressure washer, that poor thing looks like it's taken a drive through a tar bath 😁😁

I really wish I knew someone that could advise me on how to make it pristine again, afraid of what I'd do to it with a pressure washer or don't have the technique.

Anyhow the motor mount was supposedly done on the left side not too long ago, unless it's the right one that keeps going bad

The genuine part is no longer available

Best I'm finding is Corteco or Lemforder

Dealer gave me part number
124 240 22 17

Replace the mounts as a set (Engine Left + Right, and transmission mount) to restore poper driveline angle.

Not doing so will put unneeded stress on the next weakest component in the drivetrain.

Anyone know the difference between these two corteco?
One fitment stops at 1989 300E

The next one cost 8$ more and fitment shows 1991

Afraid the local guys might be getting the first one meant for the 1989 300E because their price was 70$ same as the 601412 instead of 78$ 601413

A 1991 300E should have 1242402217 as the mounts for both left and right sides. It's very highly recommended you do these as a pair. Use the Corteco brand.

Ok two different corteco fitments in the variations of corteco
autohauz one fitment shows 601412 is for manual transmission up to 1989 and = 1242401717

Hopefully they get me the right one

1242402217 is = to corteco 601403
Will be finding out at 9am tomorrow

Drove back home 40 miles ordered part and another 50 to go to get back to the parts place and then mechanics

All the fluid seems to have leaked out as it's not leaking anymore, bad shape but drivable

Man what a relief to both track a mystery leak and have the solution at hand with available parts. Good luck in this endeavour, I am sure the before and after result will be a huge difference, the best type of auto rapair;)

Thanks guys! The driver's side was done new years 2014 only 25k miles on it since then so it should be ok, unless age is a factor (7years later)

mechanic is pretty busy and the heat is going to get to 100 so I'll have to sit tight until I get the word but am going to present him the cash and see when he schedules it.

LA import parts is the best, had the part on hand 9am the next day for 70$ correct part
Corteco 601403

Otherwise pelican parts has it for 78 plus shipping so I went with the local leaders in glendale area, they always source stuff FAST and always verify fitment

Age IS the main factor, followed by engine heat & vibrations.

As I stated, replace all 3 as a set for the same reason you don't replace headlight bulbs one at a time. Your wallet will thank you later, and you will be rewarded instantly with a much improved ride.

Corteco passenger right side in successfully, am monitoring the driver left and will update soon
Even though it's low miles it's still aging
Next driver's side one going will take me a little while to get it done (sooner than later is the hope) - perhaps in a couple weeks mainly due to budget constraints.

Is the driver side easier or more difficult than the passenger side?

And thanks guy solid responses,

Sbaert you mentioned all 3 mounts should be changed

Now that the passengers side is done how much difficulties might be present getting the other 2 , I assume that meant drivers side and transmission mount?

Edit: I re read the thread, yes all 3 means drivers passengers and transmission mount

Only passengers was done so far

Budget constraints

Once monetary credits are available how difficult is it to have the transmission mount and drivers side mount...at a later date but soon? As in this can be still done relatively easily at my mechanics since it wasn't all at once right?
