I have become a fanatic with this yet to be driven car. I have found out the following:Here is some additional info for any other C32 groupies.
1. The car should be coming to the USA in September 2001.
2. MB plans on making 3,500 worldwide per model yr.
3. Approximately 1,200-1,500 C32 cars will be shipped to the USA per year.
4. The engine will be hand built by AMG.
5. The car should be priced in the same range as the 2002 BMW M3. (below $50,000) This car should cost a lot less than the 2000 C43.
6. I have sat in the show car which looks the same inside as a C-320 Sport with the following changes. (a) 2 tone slate blue / gray leather interior which is very elegant and looks great, (b) a C32 shift knob in silver, (c) an AMG silver face plate added to the center instrument panel.
7. The exterior changes are more significate and can be see on the web site listed below. I was able to see the C32 next to a C320 and the AMG exterior changes transforms the car. It looks wider and more substantial without being fussy or tacked on. Whoever did the styling work for AMG should get an award for the great changes.
8.Performance of the car has been stated at 0-100 km in 5.2 sec. This would translate to 0-60 mph in 5.0 sec. It is possible that the USA testing will yield better results because T.U.V. testing results require the car to have on board during testing 2 people, all testing equipment, and I was told 100lb-150lb of luggage. The brakes are huge and should stop the car like it hit a wall. If the car performs as early information indicates, the C32 will be the fastest to 60, best braking production sedan ever built(yes better than a BMW M5.) I know that someone will want to talk about the new M3 which should be the equal to the C32, but it will only have 2 doors and will draw a lot more attention from the police.
I have found addition info at the following website which is great. www.amgregistry.com
