I have become a fanatic with this yet to be driven car. I have found out the following:Here is some additional info for any other C32 groupies.
1. The car should be coming to the USA in September 2001.
2. MB plans on making 3,500 worldwide per model yr.
3. Approximately 1,200-1,500 C32 cars will be shipped to the USA per year.
4. The engine will be hand built by AMG.
5. The car should be priced in the same range as the 2002 BMW M3. (below $50,000) This car should cost a lot less than the 2000 C43.
6. I have sat in the show car which looks the same inside as a C-320 Sport with the following changes. (a) 2 tone slate blue / gray leather interior which is very elegant and looks great, (b) a C32 shift knob in silver, (c) an AMG silver face plate added to the center instrument panel.
7. The exterior changes are more significate and can be see on the web site listed below. I was able to see the C32 next to a C320 and the AMG exterior changes transforms the car. It looks wider and more substantial without being fussy or tacked on. Whoever did the styling work for AMG should get an award for the great changes.
8.Performance of the car has been stated at 0-100 km in 5.2 sec. This would translate to 0-60 mph in 5.0 sec. It is possible that the USA testing will yield better results because T.U.V. testing results require the car to have on board during testing 2 people, all testing equipment, and I was told 100lb-150lb of luggage. The brakes are huge and should stop the car like it hit a wall. If the car performs as early information indicates, the C32 will be the fastest to 60, best braking production sedan ever built(yes better than a BMW M5.) I know that someone will want to talk about the new M3 which should be the equal to the C32, but it will only have 2 doors and will draw a lot more attention from the police.
I have found addition info at the following website which is great. www.amgregistry.com

Bruce: do you have any more details?
USA dates are wrong

It's not comming to the USA in Sept. More like 2002 in March
I think the car will arrive in the States early this Fall. That's what I've read and that's
what my dealer has told me. COLORS? What do you think? I'm leaning towards
white. My original choice would have been black but I'm shying away from that
hot/wash me every 3 days color!
thanks!
I think it might even arrive earlier than that.
I think that car looks good in White, Silver and Grey. White might be a little too faminine(I know it's stupid), Grey is the special order - $1000, so I am getting silver, although I know it's too common.
: I think the car will arrive in the States early this Fall. I do like how it shows the lines
of the car. That's why I like white. It's an elegant
color where black is a meaner color. The grey you mentioned
is Tactite (sic)? I've seen it and I don't like it as much
as the silver.
Re: Start of ordeing today??

Dave, here is a link from that guy, maybe the dealers will know more next week
: : There is a guy on SLK board claiming his dealer was able the oder the SLK32 starting today, and will get a producation date next week, can any of you call your dealers to confirm this?
My dealer just told me he hasn't heard anything and
he expects them around the same time as the C32.
He might be right but then again....

It's a different world
over there isn't it? They are mighty proud of their BMW's
even though BMW isn't giving them any decent colors
to choose from and BMW is allowing the dealers to
sell the cars over MSRP. Re: Start of ordeing today??

Yes, I am there all the time, I've put a deposit down on M3 before I found out about C32. Everybody there is complaning about the lack of options, lousy colors and a dreadful black gloss trim, but the performance is great. Oh and M3 has only 57% residual, so you can't lease it. I think C32 will be nicely equiped with a great performance, high residual and would be much more rare. I just hope to get it before the next winter sets in in Boston that lasts about 9 months:)

: Dave, here is a link from that guy, maybe the dealers will know more next week

I think I "saw" you on the M3 board. Re: USA dates are wrong

Where did you get this info. The following link from Chrysler's detroit coverage along with everthing else leads me to believe it'll be a 2001 model delivered in 2001. Unless, of course, they have production problems like the M3. The car exists, I don't know why there would be a othersize.
April - Best Guess

I have no hard facts, but based on what I'm reading here and from an earlier post from a month ago, I feel pretty strongly that the ordering will start in April with fall delivery.
Ordering: SLK 32 Yes - C 32 No

The latest I have is that, on Monday, Mercedes will accept SLK 32 orders on their computer but no word yet on the C32. The good news is that engine and drivetraing must be sorted out. Hopefully we'll hear something about the C 32 soon.
Just read test results M3 vs. C32 - NOT good

German magazine tested them side by side, sad news is, and I don't undertand why, M3 is half a second faster; is that becuase of auto?
