Hey Benz world. New guy to benzworld. I just bought a 2007 S550. Has about 37,000 miles. I'm having problems with my clock, headlamp switch, and the ESP button cluster. I read on previous threads that changing the clock has fixed this problem. So, I bought a clock on eBay, and still no luck. I also read that resetting the electronics battery would reset the PCM module could fix as well. Still no good. I checked all the fuses, except rear. I'm thinking about changing the head lamp switch. Could I gotten a bad clock from eBay? Anybody else dealt with this? Thanks in advance

Welcome to the forum, 0521joe! I truly wish I had the answer, but you have already taken care of my first suspicion by replacing the clock. I hope some of our experts can help!

Can you please specify what exactly is happening?

Is your clock not working at all..or does it stop and when you turn on the car is rolls back to the correct time?

When I had a bad accessory battery, the clock would roll to the correct time once the car started. I also could not raise the car and do other things until I let the car run for a minute, turn it off and on again and everything would work again.

Thanks for your time in responding. The clock does not work or illuminate. The headlamp switch does not respond or illuminate, headlights stay on all the time. The ESP control cluster does not illuminate and the only response out of it is the dimmer for the navigation. The button cluster around the mouse all work but does not illuminate. The a/c control module works but does not illuminate. I ordered a clock from eBay and changed it still not working. Any advice??

Joe where are you located?

To be honest with you, the first I would try at this point is hook it up to a Mercedes Scanner. See if you can find someone locally or have the dealer scan it for you. I think they usually run about $125 per diagnostic. At least you will know what it is. The scanner would tell you exactly what module is throwing the code or if there is a specific part not working correctly.

If the clock is your speculation, I would unplug it and see if it makes a difference.

Have you tried to unplug both batteries? You can unplug both terminals under the hood on the passenger side. You will see a small battery and another battery terminal that runs all the way to the battery in the trunk.

It is possibly that once an ESP code is thrown, it might have to be erased with DAS once the defective unit has be replace or fixed.

I had a similar issue with an ABS and ESP light staying on after I changed the brake pads on my 07 s550. (I believe the ABS and ESP both use the same sensors but I could be wrong). I kept getting the code even after the wheel sensors were plugged in. I had to hookup the computer and clear the code for the lights to go away. It might be the case with your situation. Eitherway a Scan with DAS would point you to the right direction.

I'm in Maryland. That sounds like a great idea to get it scanned. I think I'm going to unplug the clock this weekend and see if it in indeed the culprit. I did unplug the battery and unhooked the negative cable in the trunk. I have a place called magic benz near that I use for oil changes and such, I'll reach out to them about the scan if testing for voltage to the clock and unplugging it does not work.
Thanks always for the advice!
