You've got the diesel right?

Put a ball bearing or screw in the vacuum line going to the EGR and call it a day. Does nothing but soot up the engine.

not to get off the diesel thing,
but since I run premium, any advantage to getting rid of EGR on my M103 ..??
We used to make a plate & gasket and plug the space.....then cap the source of the vacuum line. As simple as the EGR system is on the m103....I can't see the harm unless as Steve says, you need an emission test for your plate renewal. In which case just plug the vacuum orifice at the EGR. In doing this though, it might be harder to pass an emission test...I dunno...never had to pass one except back in the 70's in Portland.

not with a ball bearing/bb in the line
I do not know if my w124 really needs the cylinder charge diluted/cooled
The Exhaust Gas Recirculation valve is an emissions devise only.

Serves no other purpose.

EGR is there to knock down emissions of oxides of nitrogen. Here in PA any car built prior to 1996 model year must undergo an annual sniffer test. Disabled EGR would be def cause a failed test here.
