I am replacing the Becker 1480 unit in my 300 SL with a Pioneer DEH-P8400MP.
I have gone through the wiring diagram from the MBz tech data on www.alldatadiy.com and have matched all the wires from the old Becker unit to their correct mating for the Pioneer unit except the wire marked 'X42/13 ATA contact connector (1 pole)' to pin 17 on the alarm module N46.
According to the pin information from Mercedes, this wire carries a 12VDC signal when the radio is installed and the connector connected to the radio. The new Pioneer unit does not provide such an output to wire this into.
I believe this signal tells the vehicle Anti-theft alarm system that the radio is not connected to the vehicle and if the 12VDC signal is not wired, the alarm will continuously be on.
Is this true? Also, if true can I bypass this alarm some way by 1) wiring directly to a 12VDC source (such as radio power) or 2) find another output of the new unit that can supply this 12VDC for the alarm input.
Any thoughts will be appreciated.
Thanks

A 1991 sl 300 won't start because of a malfunctioning
alarm.
Will unplugging the alarm module on a 1991 sl 300
disable the alarm or will I have to run a 12 volt wire
to the fuel pump relay ?
What's the best way to disable the alarm ?
