Just installed a new antenna in my 300te. It involved cutting some 1989 wires and adapting them to 2005 plug. I did EXACTLY as instructed. When you push the plug into the antenna, one can hear the antenna motor engage, and visually see the antenna mast retract (since it is already retracted, it is visible about 1/32"). No way can I get the mast to go UP. The switch on the dash is ineffective, the radio, on/ off ineffective. Any clues???

an aftermarket head unit should have a blue wire marked "pwr ant" or something like that. it's a power lead that triggers the antenna to go up. i don't think the factory head unit had that kind of lead - it relied on the antenna switch which as far as i can tell just goes directly to the antenna unit in the back. so that power antenna blue wire needs to be sent to the back.

to troubleshoot, apply power to the third lead (blue?) and watch it work... the factory antenna had some kind of relay in the unit itself??

anyhow, give it a try and let me know... i'm still learning too!
