Another SLK with "defective ESP"
Chalk up another SLK with "the ooold ESP defective trick". [

At just under 8000km (in 6 weeks), I started getting an "ESP Defective! Visit Workshop" malfunction message on the dash display. Like others who have reported this previously, the service department diagnosed it as a faulty steering angle sensor. They've ordered a new one, and will replace it when it arrives in a coupla weeks.
Since this is the first problem I've had (it appears to be a common one), and I've given the car quite a "thrashing" , I'm not unduly concerned. I guess there must have been a bad batch of sensors?
