Gents,

Is there any easy way to turn off the annoying seatbelt "bonger" alert that automatically activates when you turn on the ignition? I always wear the belt, but I don't like the thing bonging away as soon as I turn on the car.

Thanks.

Tom

What year is your car and what country is it in?
I have been in a lot W211s. The seat belt chime never starts ringing until the car is
moving and the seat belt is not latched.

08 E350

It's an '08 E350. As soon as you turn on the ignition the alert tone goes off until you latch the belt. Normal stuff. But sometimes I'd like to sit there, turn on the car, and not have the alert tone sounding. The car does not have to be moving. Can it be turned off?

I am not sure if it can turned off. It would have to be done with the SDS hooked up,
possibly even developer mode activated.

I don't think I have been in a W211 newer than 07, but I had for 6 days as a loaner and
it did not start making the chime noise until the car was rolling. Hopefully some other 08
owners can verify the function is correct on yours.
That would really bug me also if I could not turn it off.

More Bonging

Tquaglino,

I understand the safety ministers likely outrage and if, like in Noodles' car, it didn't bong until you were underway, no problem. But as soon as you light the ignition and while you're sitting there it's sounding, that's annoying. Not a biggee to be sure. A petty grievance. Just wondering if it could be shut off somehow.
