yeh, this pic is a beauty. :thumbsup:I obtained a set of door wood for the SEC, but, sadly, they had suffered water damage and the backing was warped.
I was quoted $1,800 to have them re-done, so at least the pricing is consistent.
I can't make up my mind whether I want to do the door pocket and extended top piece, or the center part as seen below.

Yes, $1,800 from Madera to recreate a set of door wood for an SEC.Where you quoted $1800 by Madera?
Personally not a fan of the wood door card, just little too woody.
No samples as of yet. Need to gauge the interest before moving any further. Quite a bit of time will have to be spent reconstructing my bits, getting them true and correct as they will be the bases for the tooling.yeh, this pic is a beauty.
Great work 48hp. Have you any samples yet, or still to go into production?
Tom?when I was chatting w/ Tom I had hoped the price would come down a bit more w/ some qty/possibility of qty orders..but I do know they do Rockin work.
They have been doing the re-finishing for us right about 6 or so years now... learned my lesson trying to use Heritage!!

Your orders/requests will be placed with Madera directly should this move forward and into production.I'm in. I don't want in pocket insets though. That will be Alcantara on my car.

Right and I agree.Yes, $1,800 from Madera to recreate a set of door wood for an SEC.
That particular door is a bit much.
For me it's either the wood on the door pocket and the top, or the door insert - not both.
Therein lies the problem, these bits are not available and if BTE has NOS, pricing will be "utterly stratospheric." As an aside, wonder how the BTE website is coming along?I believe that AMG's list price for a set of coupe W126 door trim back in the day was $2,350 back in the 1980s.

I'd be interested in the burlwood map pocket door trim.
Barry Taylor told me a couple of years ago at his shop that he had some OEM AMG W126 wood kits but I did not inquire whether they were for coupes or sedans or both, though, And I did not actually SEE tem either, but he is honest. I believe he had them then and may still.
All he told me was that he would not split up the kits and sell any of them piecemeal. I understand that; he is NOT running a Pick 'n' Pull yard.
I doubt they are cheap. Maybe I could snipe a set of them this year. I do not live too far away.
Efforts like this were made in the late 1990's on mbcoupes for a group buy of this replica AMG door trim, for coupes, but then, as now, talk is cheap on these fora, but few people were willing to put up the cash when it came time to do so. So it went nowhere.
Good, top quality woodwork done in USA or West Europe by good master craftsmen is not cheap; Doing it is Asdia is another matter altogether though.
Personally I would prefer new AMG-produced burlwood pieces if they were available and the price was fairly reasonable or at least not utterly stratospheric.
Guaranteed.Odds are this set will be higher quality than AMG's veneered mdf board bits.
