18" x 8" +30 mm w/ 225/40/18

18" x 9" +39 mm w/ 255 or 265/40/18

using H&R Cup Kit or H&R Sport Springs w/ Bilstein Sport shocks...

will this work w/o rubbing? my only concern is the offset...

...

I am also looking into this wheel...

looks pretty much like the above AMG wheel...except this one is made by ASA (licensed by BBS) and is a proper fitment for the SLK...it's considerabally cheaper too...

so which one would you get?

RE: AMG wheel fitment

The answer is maybe. I think there's a really high chance of rubbing on front. With a 30mm offset instead of 35-37mm, the fender clearance is the same as with 235s and most (but not all) people that have tried 235s on the front have experience rubbing.

I think the rear would be OK with 255s (I assume you mean 255/35R18 and not 255/40R18), at least on the fender side, but I'm not sure about the inside.

FYI, those exact same rims are available in 18x7.5ET37 and 18x8.5ET30 (factory rims on the W209 CLK55). You could use the same 225/40R18 tires in the front and 255/35R18 tires in the rear and know it would fit. The only difference between this setup and thw one you're asking about is 1/4-inch of "lip".

I thought about the CLK wheels too!

but for some reason they are not available on Tire Rack!

what's your opinion on the ASA wheels?

I like the ASA ST4. Was thinking about them for my wife's E-class.

In the end, I didn't get them because I know my wife wouldn't appreciate them, and she'd just curb them anyway.

I would go with the ASA as well, and as far as the wife curbing... make sure to buy a fifth wheel so you always have a spare that you can put on. I speak from experience on this one.

IMHO the AMG wheel looks smoother and more classy, but the ASA looks more sporty and aggresive. Depends what "image" you want to go for.
