Could anyone give me some advice on buying after market alloy wheels for a MB500SEC (1986) - AMG split rims seem to look the best (personal preference)- From new stock which sizes are compatible - 17" or 18" x 9" ? What offset is compatible? and up to what size rubber - I have seen 235/40/ZR18 front with 255/35/ZR18 on rear using standard bodywork?
If I was to buy some original AMG split alloys -currently available from a 1989 500SEL -should they be directly interchangable with 500 SEC? - fronts are 235's and the rears are 255/40/17?
The front has a deep polished rim but the rear has an even deeper polished rim.
They need reconditioning - have curbing - is their a limit to how deeper a mark can be repaired? I have heard reconditioning split alloys is a specialist job and expensive? Does anyone know where I can purchase a set of new connecting bolts (from polished rim to centre piece) - and a set of 5 x 5 locking wheel nuts for 500 SEC / AMG split rims?
I believe the rear alloys require shorter bolts?
Many thanks for any help.
Richard
