I need to replace my alternator clutch pully (2012 w204, C200) but was wondering what direction to correctly turn to remove it? Also do I keep the socket end still and only turn only the spline section or is it the other way around? The web has a lot of contradicting answers so far.

It is right hand thread. Hold the shaft and loosen pulley counterclockwise. Or hold pulley and loosen shaft clockwise.
Thanks for the information. I just cannot loosen the clutch pully. It is extremely tight. Even sprayed wd40 to try and help loosen it. I will need an impact wrench but there is not much space to work in. Any suggestions?
