The Mrs. called me last Tuesday saying "my car's temp gauge is at the top and the low coolant light is on, what do I do?"...Well geez hun, "Don't drive it anymore!!" Got to it and found the little coolant bypass hose from the head to the water pump housing had a big split in it and darn near bone dry on coolant. What a job that little hose is. You have to pull the complete water pump to replace it, which includes the power steering and belt tensioner. All that for a $5 hose. I installed a new water pump while I was there just to be safe. Now we're back to normal just in time for Sacramento summer heat- it was almost 104 on Saturday...Glad the old girl didn't bleed to death..

Crazy! It's scary to ponder the degree to which certain disasters are prevented by the smallest and seemingly insignificant components.
