just bought a 1978 450 SLC fitted with painted steel 14" wheels. i would like to fit 16" alloys ideally but having read various threads I am somewhat unsure as to what fits and what doesnt.
According to info I can find on MB sites, the 16" option for this car should be 16 x 7.5 with a 27mm offset. However i have read blogs that state that less offset is required, down to 11mm, that the 16" wheels should be fitted with 215x55 tyres, that no, on these tyres there will be rubbing so beter not to go larger than 205 x 60 etc etc etc.
I am looking for a 'plug and play' replacement, no spacers, no flaring wheel arches, no annoying rubbing on the tie rods etc etc, so can someone please give me the definitive wheel tyre combo for 16" option or whether i should go no bigger than 15" and save myself a lot of hassle.
Anyone got a set for sale in UK or europe please drop me a line
TIA
