Guys, here's a few pictures from this evening.

OK, I'll admit it...I have a problem, and I'm probably not the only one. These days I'm retired and have plenty of time on my hands and I get a certain amount of pleasure in working on the ML's and I spend an inordinate amount of time fixing, cleaning, replacing worn out, broken OEM parts on the old girl. Here are a few pictures from the last few hours.....

So, the two black decals that disintegrated just above the radiator fans are still available from MB. They are so old you have to go through their vintage department to order. But whats amazing is that they want like 20.00 EACH for these puppies !!

I found a great replacement at a store nearby called Michaels, which carries all kinds or stuff. Could not believe I found a product so inexpensive and the perfect dull black finish with peel off adhesive on the back. Every now and then even a blind squirrel finds a nut. My lucky day, four 8X12 sheets of this cost about $10.00 and worked perfectly !!

I feel much better now....and yes Millie is still running great and the mileage displayed is correct............

This is a great example of aging gracefully- although I suspect some "plastic surgery" was helpful in the area of the expansion tank and windshield fluid reservoir...

She looks just beautiful. It’s a credit to you.
Try some scotch brit and soapy water on the A/C fans and then grab a tin of satin black and give them a real light coat. They will come up like new. I did that with mine.

If you mean replacement....YES......these plastic containers are very prone to failure with the heat and exposure to sun....under the hood components, its all about the heat and vibration.

Great suggestion, Matt !! Spent about an hour this morning cleaning and painting, and fans came out great !! The shields on the front release with four tabs, and then you fave full access to the fans themselves. Flat black on the shields and 409 on the fans themselves. Looks like new. Few drops of machine oil on the motor shafts while I had access......
