Hi guys,

I have a 2000 s430 and there seem to be some problems with the back suspension on both sides. This is what happens: the back sits very low all the time(the front is ok) except when i press the switch on the dash. When I press the switch on the upper side, the led turns red and I get the message vehicle raising. The compressor kicks in, the car raises, backside is almost ok. Now, I understood that this switch should be used only for a couple of minutes, and then turned off, not supposed to be used while driving. When I switch off by pressing it on the lower side, the led turns off, and the car lowers. It's not supposed to stay raised after I switch off? I don't get any message that there is something wrong with the airmatic.
Am I doing something wrong? Is the suspension gone?

You can drive the car with the raised position, it will stay raised until you switch it off. Unless driving at higher speeds, it will cancel it with a message on the dash display.

Check your rear height sensor for damage.
