My S550 started showing an Airmatic Malfunction message...car outline with Up Arrow...when the weather started to get chilly here in Oklahoma. Maybe just a coincidence. Anyway, are there any thoughts out there about possible causes of this message? The car's manual seems to indicate that the message is given when the suspension does not automatically lower at highway speed. Thanks.

My S550 does the exact same thing (when cold). As the temp has been getting warmer, I no longer see this message here in MN.

Actually, it was the Airmatic pump that was bad. After it was replaced, no more messages regardless of ambient temp.

How much for pump and labor, and what kind of test determines that this function is no longer working properly? For I can not tell anything is wrong with the air ride.

My S350 does the same. it started with MALFUNCTION warning message and ended to "Stop Vehicle Too low".

My bad air pump was diagnosed by the dealer and replaced at half cost because I had bought the car only a few weeks earlier. Of course it was pre-owned and there was no warranty. Think my half was about $500. And the malfunction message has not returned, so it must have been the air pump.

I have not had the error message (orange car error) since the winter, so I think my error message was due to the crazy cold weather here in MN. If I get the error message through out the spring/summer, I will definetly get it replace. Looks to be $350 on ebay for OEM part new. Probably 2-4 hour job? Lucky I have a $50/hour mechanic at this moment. Take care.

I just had the same ,it was the pump .
Repair at the dealer $800.00,
I paid probably $150.00 more for the plumb but have the dealer warranty on the repair
