Unfortunatly my 500 SEL whas originaly delivered witout the air cooler option from factory. However as times pas by I'm considdering an ac installment in the bugger more and more. Theres plenty old w126 on the scrap yard which could be a donor for the parts needed and compressors I would think could be taken from most cars. I have been talking to some people reg this and have been strongly advised to forget it as they say the job is to big (read exspensive). I know its exspensive as all that involves the MB name is exspensive but is it that much jobb to swap over the parts needed?
any advice from someone that have been working with the heat/cool vent system.

It's not expensive at all if YOU do the work. It WILL take a full 3 day weekend. Unfortunately the W126 is NOT a Volvo 242 which is a snap to convert. On the W126 you will have to remove the whole dashboard to get the HVAC unit installed. The engine side is easy.
