I got my SLK last fall when I was 25. I get a lot of sh!t here on Fort Riley because people can't belive that a young E-4 specialist is driving a drop-top Mercedes. They expect me to be a captain or major, etc. Well while the other guys were out blowing their Iraq money on booze, whores, and more booze I chose to save my money until I got back to the US and treat myself to an SLK!
this will give you a better view.. :)

i was gonna say there was a way better poll up a while back. this one is a little vague! 20 - 30 cmon that puts me in the older category im 21 im not old yet
And 20 and 30 are in two groups. I'm 20
And whats up with 40+ (LOL) I'm hoping that that is like a block of over 60 years. At 45 I don't consider myself in the oldest age group block for anything.

Actually its funny, i received a survey from mercedes-benz, and IIRC the youngest age bracket on it was under 40, then it went up in 5yr increments to 70+

An interesting survey would be to find out how many people in each age group bought the cars new at full retail price, versus used. I bet many of the younger drivers would say used. MB knows who has been stacking money away long enough to afford to buy their cars new. [:D]
sorry i was in a hurry when i posted, had to go back to work, I get tons of looks specially from older people, they can believe it when they see a 19 year old driving a benz.

this poll needs to be edited...

16-20

20-30?

hehe... should be 21-30 [:D]
I'm sure the results of this poll would be way different if it were just people that bought their cars new....and especially for models other than SLK and C.... Lots of young people drive older benzes...old(er) people in general want new, more comfortable, and more reliable ones, and they can afford it.
like the other poll indicated.. this is only for people that go to this forum, the rest of the world is just way different.. btw... you'll be amazed how young BMW drivers are.. i think those ricer boys woke up and realize that spending $15K worth of mods on a $15K car wouldnt make their car worth $30K .. try e46.com

Yeah that's cause so many of BMWs models are under $35K, and they usually have good financing. All the med students here at Mayo Medical School drive a 328i or xi. Nice cars, but I'd rather have a C class. Mercedes is too expensive for most people under 25 or 30 to get a new one.
many BMW models?

you mean just the 325i/Ci...[;)] ...if you're talkin' brand-new that is...

Brand-new MBs can be had for under $35,000 too...C230 Coupe or C230 Sedan...

I actually got that when i bought my previous car, a new C class. I was only 14 when my SLK was made.

Well, the 325i/xi/ci, 330i/xi, and the X3, Z4...and a few years back, you could get a 5 series for under $35K.
oh that's true...good call...

MB is also trying to tap into the sub-35K USD US market too with the upcoming B-class...[:)]
The other reason u find bimmers w/younger guys, on average, is they have a sportier image than mb [;)] Accurate ur not, most of em think as mb for their dad. Id say there is some validity, 3 series are a lot more lively than the c class. Personally barring the slk I think its pretty much been my experience. Not really sure u can make a strong case for all the older guys getting new, since im 30 Im lumped as old now, I personally get a car a few yrs old because im frugal and cars take a beating when u drive em off the lot new.
