Hi All,

Well I have spoke with Simon/Ben (Kleemann) and HPS (Adam or Mark?) about the superchargers for the CLK55.

When I first spoke with every tuner I could find about the Kleemann they all said it was too much boost and the ODBII setup would not correct itself. The compression would be raised to high as well. At the time, Brandon offered it to me for $9500.00 and I turned it down.

Now it seems that nothing is better than the Kleemann. (Quick correction of the marketplace when members become resellers and change vendors...)

I thought the concept of the HPS unit was good and the price was right, but not enough HP to warrant $8500.

I just read through a thread on MBWorld between JT55, Adam and Ben. Unreal.

I have only found 3 members who have superchargers, JT55, Mach430 (Ben) and someone named Timster from two forums.

Timster is trying to sell his car 2 months after the Kleemann, Ben resells Kleemann. JT55 is the only "non-biased" person I can find out there.

Is there anyone out there other than the same 3 members that have done either an supercharger or a cam, heads... upgrade.

Is it better to just sell the CLK55 and get an 03 E55.

I am looking forward to the input.

Thanks,

Chris

Well Chris, I just had a Kleemann SC installed and so far it's sweet as hell. If Brandon offered you the SC for a 55 engine for 9500..start beating yourself on the head with a brick for not taking his offer (and me too for paying way more than that). As far as the other mods you mentioned, I personally think you get your moneys' worth out of the SC. The headers and stuff are like pissing in the wind in comparison (Kleemann setup of course).

Kleemann only pumps about 1/2 bar (7 1/2 lbs) of boost into the engine, that's only half of what AMG uses. My car feels well rounded and much more responsive than stock. I know the compression ratio is different, but doesn't Mercedes build in a large "buffer" for longevity? I mean, isn't my AMG built engine comprised of V12 and other beefed-up drive line components?

Do your research carefully. The next time you hear a competitor talk down about another system when trying to sell you on theirs, start wondering! If their system is all that, their system will sell itself without having to makeup second hand BS about competitors.

Hope this helps,

Joe

BTW... it took me over 1 1/2 years to finally decide who to go with, so I know how you feel.

Chris, did someone really offer to sell you a 55 Kleemann system for $9,500? Aren't they normally around $17-18k? I would have thought dealer cost on one was more than that. Does anyone know where the least expensive place to buy one is now?

BTW, I don't know what you meant exactly about the compression ratio; adding a supercharger doesn't change a car's compression ratio. The issue with 55's and compression ratios is that boost and high compression don't work well together, and the n/a 55 is a high compression engine (10.5:1). Kleemann deals with this by using an efficient intercooler and a relatively low-boost system. So the car still has the same compression ratio, but cooling the air charge and keeping the boost low keep it from detonating.

Yes. I turned it down because I could not find one person who knew of Kleemann well and/or said it would work. It was the system for the CLK430 (my old car).

Oh well. Now I see that ProCharger has a 7psi kit for the 350Z. It has 10.25:1 compression. They only increase the fuel pressure.

I would have to believe that the CLK55 engine is better or just as good as the 350Z's.

I am still thinking about it.

It should be noted here that Chris was offered this price nearly two years ago when we first started business in this country. He, like many others at the time, was hesitant to use anything from a company with no history. A few things have changed since that time [:)]

Is this offer on a 430 system or a 55 system? And if it's a 55 system, how much power does it produce?
I just had the system installed ~ a month ago, it's a blast.....literally. This is the before and after dyno:438rwhp and 454 ft-lbs of torque

Here's my lattest dyno showing 429 rwhp (the shop was 104 degrees, with high humidity and hardly any ventilation).

and this is what the engine bay will look like when Kleemann is done with it.[:D]

Enjoy!

Cory or Brandon is correct.

I turned it downed BEFORE anyone here had it installed. That is the only real reason.

I have not heard a bad thing about them at all.

It is just a price point issue now. I wish I would have done it now.

I just wanted to be clear from my side as well.

I've been hearing alot of talk about Kleemann Superchargers.

Anyone has any input on the RennTech SuperCharger for the CLK55. Supposely adds another 105 * to the stock 340 HP. I haven't dyno-ed my 2002 CLK yet.

But was wondering if anyone had any feedback on RennTech's work.
