I am looking for opinions on aftermarket headlight assemblies for my 2004 e500.
I need to replace them as they are faded and light output is terrible.
What would you all recommend as a good option that won't break the bank?
(Factory halogen projectors for reference)

Was looking at these since I do like the blacked out headlight look on my silver car, anyone purchase these? How is the fitment?

My 2007 E350 had wiring problems (crumbling insulation) in both headlight assemblies which prevented the low beams from working. Did some research, found instructions online to remove the headlights and then pull off the lenses, which allowed me to address the failed insulation. Replacing the lenses is possible for a DIY fix, and that may help your issue the most. I also replaced the 55w bulbs with 65w versions from Daniel Stern, this also improved the light output.

If you decide to try to remove and replace the clear lenses, (1) there is a hidden screw at the bottom middle of each lens, buried under the black butyl sealant, and (2) the reflector coating is not so much a coating as a layer of silver reflective dust, and looking at it sideways or breathing on it too hard will damage it. Well, maybe it's not that fragile, but it is VERY fragile. DO NOT attempt to touch it with anything, or you will damage that coating on the reflectors.

Crumbling wiring was the bane of my existence for a bit. Not sure if the UV from xenon or 'eco wiring'. But lens replacement is economical. I suggest this along with an X-PEL clear covering to protect it from UV and yellowing.
