Most radios come with the mounting bracket so unless the new radio fits the old mount I would say you'll have to change it. Is the radio new or secondhand?

You'll definitely need the new mounting bracket for that , I would check with them and ask why it is not there. They are normally on the unit out of the box.

I haven't actually gotten it in the mail yet...I just assumed I'd need something in addition to what comes with the head unit. How does it get locked in place?

Yup! what Chris said ya need one !!! JMO: From experience I don't think ya need all the little brackets that come with some units! Mine fit in the opening quite tight and I just had to bend down the tabs to hold it in! Ya really don't need a very expensive one it's just a cage!! Check with the seller to make sure it fits your unit!
