I am planning my next MB purchase and I want to know which class would be the best in terms of deprecation, resale values and comfort..... etc

I owned a 2001 M320 before and I paid $68000 Canadian when I traded in last year, the dealer only allowed $33000.
Now there is 2nd generation of M-class available.
I wonder I should buy M-class instead of CLK.

Any suggestion??

There have been multiple studies (including Money magazine) that have shown that across all makes and models the CLK (more the 320 than 500) has had one of the lowest depreciation rates of any car, and tops of all MB.

The more important question is, what do you need the car to do, because if you're carring people or stuff in your ML you're not going to have the same space.

Thanks
Interior space is not an issue, the most I will drive is 4 including myself.
so I guess CLK 320 is the best result.
I think I will wait for the CLK350.

We have two '05 CLK Cabriolets. A 320 and a 500. If I had it to do over again, I would not have gotten the 500. The 500 is heavier than the 320 and it feels heavier. The 320 feels more nimble and for the extra money, I just don't think the 500 was worth the extra money.

That's interesting. I'm considering ordering a 350 Cab, or getting a used '05 500 Cab. That's one more + for the 350.

Anyone have any idea when they are going to release the pricing information for the 350?

advice CLK vs M-class

I've noticed the new 05 CLK500 comes with the rear spoiler and the new 5 spoke AMG style rim which is very attractive.

I wonder if I buy 350, by the time I upgraded the 2 options mentioned above would cost the same of getting a CLK500 instead....

Any suggestion???

With the $8K difference between the 320 and the 500, I don't think rims and a spoiler will nuetralize that difference. Even if the 350 is $3K more than the current 320, you can get some pretty nice rims for $4K. Hopefully the price increase will not be too much.

I would suggest you drive both. We found our CLK320 Cab to not be the most preppy. I'm sure the new CLK350 will be almost on par with the old CLK500, if the SLK350 and ML350 that we drove, is anything to go by. The new 350 engine puts out about the same HP as the old 430 V8 in our ML!

I enjoy my 2004 CLK320 very much.

I drove a ML350 (2004 or 2005) a few months ago and in my opinion, I found it not in the same league at all as other MB vehicles. I was disappointed with the interior and found it did not live up to the reputation of a MB. I also found the car under-powered, probably because of the weight of the car.

I don't know about the newer ML. The older generations of ML did not get good reviews at all. I don't even think the ML are made in Germany.

You are right MIS3, the old M-class were not made in Germany.
Not even the new (2nd) generation of M-class.

I've heard the latest production line of E-class will be in China. true?
