Most BIOSes I've modified were AMI and they had one checksum verification for each file, and so long you grabbed a good quality file download, you could insert a few of them without interfering with the others or the overall checksum...modded my X79 mobo to boot from PCI-E NVME that way. That was easier than bin editing, imo. 
MB extreme tool....haven't heard of it. Seems to do most of what VVDI does, except that it also offers airbag clears by generating seed response. TBH, there are softwares out there that can do that already. VVDI has a software for that too, you'd have to look it up.
Everything that the MBET has, VVDI matches.
