Additives, I was wondering if anyone here uses them on their Benz? Say for example: Fuel injector cleaner, Octane booster, etc etc ...Are they harmful? Or helpful? And types do you recommend if you use them?

***Also, is it best to stay with Mercedes brand of oils, coolants, etc....when maintaining your auto? Os is is safe to go with after market brands?

Any info would be helpful.

The only thing I'll use is a large bottle (treats up to 20 gallons) of Chevron Techron Concentrate every 2-3000 miles.

What Raylee says is true though, Mercedes says to not add anything to the gas tank. However, there is apparently a M-B branded gas additive that we can buy from dealers, but I know nothing about it. I do know that my dealer added something to my tank as part of a B service, and when I asked the service manager about it, he said it was "probably Techron".

I've been using diesel purge on diesels with noticeable results (good).
I always buy gasoline in the cheapest stations I can find. Have a bottle of injector cleaner on my garage shelf sitting for about 10 years.
No motive to use it. I reset daily odometer at each fill up, so I know right away when something wrong goes with the engine. Never had an issue with gasoline Mercedes. Than my diesel with 230,000 miles has the right for new injectors, right?

I saw my (Mercedes) dealer use BGK-44 as additive to help cleaning fuel injector & engine. Problem is you can't find them from retail store.

A quick search on eBay got me a large set. These things realy work

Same for here Zam,

The only people locally that have the BG products are the car dealers. I have also used BG 44K in my other cars and I think they are good. I have never tried them in the Mercedes, but I might someday.

What types of improvements did you see ZAM? And about how much was it on eBay?

I had 2 Diesel MBenz a 240D and then a 300D use to use RedLine for the injectors then met a MBenz owner who was a Chemist he said RedLine will cost you alot in the long run but ATF 30wt transmission fluild will do the same add 1/2 at to 20gal. Never had any problems or issues in in the 240D once run out of fuel on highwayepid poured in 3qts of transmission fluild got me to a station to get diesel fuel true event. The substances in transmission fluild while diluted in the diesel fuel bond to any moisture or H20 particles and are emmited out exhaust plus clear and clean injectors and compression chambers as well as the glow plugs.
