Good morning lads.

Was visiting Miami over Christmas holidays and spotted a Bentley GTC Mulliner I fancied. Drove it back to Naples on Alligator Alley and shipped it north in the Spring to join the R107 in the garage. Very different cars. The Mercedes is still the princess and gets well pampered and driven on the weekends (for a month a year anyway) but the Bentley is just so fun and so fast. Side by side the difference in width is abundantly evident. W12 motor vs strangled V8.

I was going to to sell on the r107 but after a Sunday drive, no chance. It's staying. I'll ship the Bentley south again in the winter.

Hope you all are enjoying terrific summer drives.

Kind regards,

Richard

Nice write up. Yes the 107 can hold its own to anything. Maybe not in speed or features but in timeless classic lines absolutely.

And nice Bentley.

Beautiful!

Let the debate begin- British vs. German.

They look awesome in the third picture, next to each other!

light blue touch paper and retire...

The Mercedes is a hell of a lot of car for your money. The Bentley is a hell of a lot of money for your car. Discuss:devil

My bro in law took a huge bath on a pre-owned Mulsanne Turbo he had for about a year. I used to rib him he could have had my SL and some change for beer, or petrol, or champagne, with what he lost on it. It spent a lot of time at the dealers being repainted. again and again. Perhaps one of their few lemons. They saw him coming when they sold it to him, and saw him coming when he eventually took it back. Dealers...discuss.

That Bentley is a nice car, but I prefer the SL.

I have found that I cannot put the Range Rover and the SL in the garage at the same time. The SL tries to recreate Dunkirk whilst the Rangie tries to show the SL how the German troops felt when they saw their first British Mark IV tanks!

Of course all SL's are awesome cars, but those British interiors - MEOW!

Cheers gents!

Thank you for the replies and thoughts.

The R107 has been my daily driver for a ver long time. But Michigan roads are terrible. The winters and crap economy for some years done them in. The Bentley could be considered a "daily." Its gorgeous, fast as get out and I don't have to scratch down to look through the windscreen like I do on the 107.

That being said. It's a new car. And new cars for me just don't have the mystique nor the nostalgia of an 80's classic like the 560 does. Getting behind the wheel of the r107 is a little bit like climbing into a time machine.

Cheers,

R.
