Is it possible to add a CD player or changer to an existing MB cassette deck in a 2002 230?

The user's manual references a CD changer (that fits into the trunk), but I'm wondering if this is something that can be (easily) retrofit into the existing system or does it require a complete head-unit replacement? Cost?

I installed a MB 6cd changer in 2002 slk trunk a while ago...the fiber optic cables were already there and it was easy. Think there's a thread around with install info...

I got my changer from ebay without the mounting bracket,... strapped it to the trunk sidewall,…eventually was given a bracket from a great member of this forum,... turned out to be too big for changer,… finally found metric bolts long enough to interface with changer,… still have not properly mounted bracket to trunk,… temporary mount causes some skipping. Moral of the story,… buy one with the bracket and mounting hardware included. Otherwise, you can strap the changer to the trunk right rear side with a carwash sponge beneath for practically no skips. See installation procedure: CD Changer Installation
