My daughter has started driving my 1993 300e. She wants to hook up her phone to the radio for music. Anyone know how to do this?

Thanks in advance,
Rick

method 1) take the factory radio, and send it plus $$$ to Becker, and they will install an aux cord or blue tooth adapter or something.

method 2) get a $100 Pioneer/etc stereo with aux jack and bluetooth, and the appropriate harness adapter, and wire it up and plug it in.

method 3) if your cassette still works, get one of those stereo cassette adapters and plug the wire into the headphone jack on the phone.

each method has pros and cons.

I added a AUX in cable directly into my factory Becker, Not a complicated process but you would need to be ok using a soldering iron to connect a couple of points. Ultimately you are just tricking the system into thinking its playing a tape.

Becker charges $130 i believe to basically trick the system like i did.

If you want to do it yourself let me know and il send you the steps

The Becker Aux requires a cassette in the player to activate the aux port. You can do just as well with a cassette adapter for about $5.

don't those Beckers have support for an external CD changer? I'd think /that/ would be the place to insert the aux in, since CD out is the same signal level etc.

For MY92 and up i think so, Uses a 6 pin BUS or something like that, Pretty sure it can be done using CD changer controls. 1988-1991 BE1480 has no CD changer option

ah. all three of my 124's came to me with either no stereo or aftermarket, so thats all I've dealt with. still need to upgrade the wife's wagon's deck, its an older in-dash CD player that doesn't have any sort of aux in provisions.

I've been successful in modifying a few 1480s to have AUX input without any tape requirements. Also did some of the earlier 1970s radios too.

The aux input could be replaced with a bluetooth module or a combination bluetooth+aux module.

no distortion... hahahaha. as soon as you put it on FM, you're dealing with significant compression, loss of high and low end frequency response, and limited stereo seperation.

Any DIY instructions for this? Really would like to attempt this on my 1480.
