AdBlue warning Engine start countdown

I have been driving my E350 Blutech for 2 years now, it has been an amazing trouble free car up till now. I have had an engine warning on for about a month codes P106100 and P108800. Last week I decided to add DEF, put in 2.5 gallons. I then got an error countdown 16 starts remaining. I then went to the dealer and got enough DEF to totally top off my tank. The counter is still counting down. I called the dealer he said the car needs to be brought in and NOX sensors changed [$700 eash] plus reprogramming. Overall about $1800. OUCH. I have been searching for the answer to reset the countdown and haven’t had any luck. I did find on the web a blue cube that is put into the OBDII socket that is suppose to clear the fault. Is there anyone that has tried this OBDII cube? Should I change out the nox sensors. If so how do I reset the countdown code.
Hope there is an answer out there. The car starts and runs great but I only have 6 starts left, and from what I have read after that it will have to be towed to the dealer to be fixed. Any help would be appreciated. Until then my car is parked:frown

Thanks
Jim

106100 P2201 NOx sensor
108800 P0341 Camshaft Hall sensor is faulty

Unfortunately, emissions warranty has expired. NOx sensor replacement requires SCN coding only choice is dealer or independent with MB XENTRY. I suggest only OEM replacement $431.84 https://www.parts.com OEM camshaft sensor replacement should be DIY $31.73 https://www.rmeuropean.com

Thanks for the information. Is it possible the NOX sensor can be cleaned or does it have to be replaced? Have you seen the OBDII plugins that are suppose to clear the warnings and enable the car to be started? I'm a little nervous about spending $300 and not have it work. Frustrating for something that doesen't effect the running or performance of the car.

Sensor is $314 at https://www.mbdirectparts.com/oem-parts/mercedes-benz-sensor-0009053503
Check with your VIN part fitment.
I had the situation a year ago and as much as I hate paying crooks for scamming the customers, I could not avoid paying $250 for sensor replacement and SCN coding.
Knowing the code I put new sensor in the trunk and took the car for troubleshooting.
When technician called me with $560 price for the sensor- I told him to take the one from the trunk. That saved me $250 right on the spot.
The count triggers at few mph, so you can roll the car around without losing it.
Worse come to worse, there is Belarusian seller on ebay who sells OBD plugs who will override the count.
Pretty pricey and is not fixing the problem, so I don't think this is good way to deal with it....
... unless you are planning to do DPF delete......

OK, Thanks for the information. Especially to find out the scammer on EBay. Now all my questions are answered. I am going to pull and replace both upstream and downstream sensors. I talked to a local shop that said he could reprogram the car after I replaced them. I still have 7 starts remaining so I should be able to get it to him without having it towed. Thanks for all the help the links and diagrams really helped me out. I’ll let you now how this all turns out now that I know the only direction to take. Does anyone know of a OBDII tool or program that can be run with a Laptop that is Mercedes specific to program the car or reset all the codes including the countdown timer?

E250 Bluetec engine start countdown Adblue

All, I have this same problem with my 2014 E250 Bluetec. I am looking at two of the blue-modules online. They tell me the simple reset one will not work. I am being told that I need the one that starts at $500... Are there any ODBII scanners that cover this? My mechanic has a good one, but I am not sure it can handle this.

I'm having the same problem. This is 2021 right around Covid. Mercedes is saying we need to get the Nox Sensor replaced and it will cost $2200. Can the computer be reset by a regular mechanic? My mechanic said the can do the Nox Sensor. My concern is the computer reset. Does a mercedes specialist have to do it?

Hi. If you have a Foxwell NT530 scan tool, or access to a Snap-On with v19.4 software, certain Autel (min. DS808), and Launch (min. X431 V+ 4.0 it also can perform several important special tests on the SCR system like main pump test, or injector quantity test) you can do a Teach-In of the new NOx sensor(s). Can also check the fluid heaters, or teach-in a new Adblue injector. OTC Encore/Evolve may not have it for all Bluetecs yet (I've asked them to add it for my W166). I asked the local MB head mech and he said it's the same thing as he would program in with Xentry. Else, note that many scan tools cannot program (do adaptations) in replacement parts for the various components of the engine and SCR systems, or run special diagnostic tests.

When I needed to change both NOx sensors on my 2014 ML350 Bluetec, I used the same p/n as before (although there
is supposed to be a newer set of p/n out now). Went from Q02 to Q05 revisions which is the important part (min. Q03).

The CEL didn't go away until I replaced the feed line to the injector (the heated line failed and line ends had leaked badly. Rubber line on injector body was loose). My remaining starts countdown continued - only thing left was to replace Adblue injector (stopped spraying as line lost pressure, SCR module shut down system). Injector may have been affected by heat from the exhaust, as I needed to drive ~2500kms in total over a few days.

Also, you need to check for an SCR software update at the dealer.

Other issue is that I still need an ECU software update.
