I have a '02 320 SLK. My left brake light has burnt out. How do I get access to the bulb? On the right side, the cover panel in the trunk easily removes. On the left side, I can't seem to get it to budge. Does it snap out, and I just need to pull harder? Or are there some screws or fasteners that aren't obvious to me?

Here is a useful link on how to get access.

Unfortunately its very likely not a burnt bulb but a shorted out brake light assembly. MB designed these shotty but didn't address the problem. Luckily several ppl on here have fixes once you have a new brake light.

Wow. Thanx for the link to the great info. I was assuming it was a trivial bulb replacement, and I was just too stupid to determine how to remove the cover. But it looks like it could be considerably worse (though it still looks reasonably easy to fix -- as long as things haven't melted too much). I'll know shortly...
