Hello Gents,

I've got a 2003 CLK 240 (Euro) with the AC control without the LED display. I'm not using it too often and now when I was driving it I've found that the AC did not engage when I switch it on. The red indicator LED keeps on, and the compressor doesn't seem to start at all. It's the AC / OFF button, I assume it's maybe "EC" on US models, but not sure.

I thought it's the refrigerant that was leaking and indeed it needed to be refilled, but I do have the same issue even now no matter what I do....any ideas would be appreciated!

Cheers, Kovacsbela

The system has a refrigerant pressure sensor so that if it's too high or low, it won't engage the compressor. You might have a refrigerant charge issue, or a bad pressure sensor. If you have a leak, you need to first repair the leak, replace the drier and the expansion valve, then properly evacuate and recharge, then try it.

Hi Rodney,

The refrigerator pressure must be OK as we just had it refilled. I'm still having the same issue. I tried to reset it, but since it did not stop the test cycle but repeated it over and over again, even after 5 minutes, I assume there is an "Error" which I couldn't read as I don't have the LCD version of the control panel.

It may be time to get a tech with equipment that can read ACC codes to check it. A bad refrigerant pressure sensor could be at fault.
