Everything works - blower, heater, etc but no cold air when switched to AC mode. Hoping its only needing a freon recharge ?

No, it doesn't need a Freon recharge. These vehicles don't use Freon! If your R-134a has already leaked down to the point were the compressor won't even cycle on, then you have a leak in the system. You need to do a UV dye leak test and check for leaks before refilling with R-134a. If you just refill....its going to leak out again. And this time it might be MUCH faster.
