Hi there, so the title says it all. The rubber knobs are disintegrating into a toxic sticky crud.

The Rusnak Mercedes dealer in Arcadia, CA. says you have to change the entire AC unit at about $1000. I find that unrealistic.

Any help on this one and where to get the parts.
Thanks
2005 c230 wagon.

Yep. Try using a cleaner, like Pledge all-surface, and a microfiber cloth. You may be able to get them clean, or you'll end up rubbing the soft-touch material away and have nice hard plastic knobs.

This has been answered before.
Yes, you pull out the knobs.
Scrape off the sticky thing and you have beautiful shiny smooth knobs.

Folks, sad to say but it has been over a year since I did this but IT WORKED! I removed very carefully all the knobs from the AC and Radio, soaked them in 409 for about 30 min and wiped away the gummy material they were designed with.

Now, wonderful, clean plastic knobs.

Kudos to Rudeny
