This is an easy part if you just want to remove the covers, the rest might be a bit more time consuming. If your 2.3 is similar to mine there is only 6 scres holding the cover. Two from the top near the vents, two on the bottom in the ash tray, two on the sides about where your knee is when you drive. take these out, and it should fall off, after that it's a lot of wires, most of them easy to undo, and you got the evaporator in front of you, in a big metal case of course, not sure how to get through that yet, didn't get that far.
