AC and steering wheel 190E help

1213 Views 8 Replies 4 Participants Last post by Jippi
Hi I have seen 2phast's website. www.2phast.com and I want to do what he did on a 190E 2.3-16 1986. However, it seems that the W201 changed steering columns in 1992. Does anyone know if the 2.3-16 will accept a late model wheel like the 1997 C36? Are the splines the same? Thanks.
Also, does anyone what I need to do to put a 10P17C Nippondenso AC compressor in place of the less powerful 10P15C compressor? I need more AC power for an R134a conversion.

Greetings from Hawaii....

Currently running with no AC; need to convert to 134, still waiting for cost estimate from dealer...

I will be moving from Hawaii to Puerto Rico in mid Sept (from hot climate to hot climate, but not as hot as the dessert), what compressor do you recommend?.... Will appreciate your feedback.

Don't waste your time retrofitting for R134a. There is a gas coming out of Australia called Durocool. It's much cooler, puts less stress on your a/c system, leaks less and best of all involves no retrofitting. You just need to find someone who supplies it.

No, your really don't. Your stock compressor will work fine with r134a, and it will blow ice cold. Installing a too-large compressor is not a good idea. A too-large compressor can cause the core to ice up, which will actually give you less cooling.
