Recently on my 2001 ML320, my ABS has been activating intermittently at low speeds as I approach a stop. Sometimes this happens and then the BAS/ESP-ETS-ABS lights come on. Usually, once I turn the vehicle off and then restart, the lights go dark and it operates as normal. Happens whether the brakes are hot or not. Yesterday, however, this happened and in addition to the trio of lights my Brake indicator on the instrument cluster came on and the beeping sound usually heard at startup began and did not end until I put the vehicle in park. Any ideas about what could be malfunctioning here? No ODBII trouble codes are presenting.

Steve,
Could be as simple as a faulty relay in the fusebox under the hood. Locate the one for the ABS relay, and swap it out with the same type on the 'Rear washer pump' slot (if I recall correctly, so dont hold me to this.)

I will get a relay and give it a shot. Thanks, Khomer.

Reading OBDII codes in this case is worthless. Full scan of vehicle is needed.
So most relevant MB codes from my scanner:
Transmission module: 109 Internal electrical test of component Y3/6n3 (speed sensor 3 has intermittently failed
ETS module: C1100 RPM sensor FL (I also have a C1140 code for the SAS but that has been there a while)
Multiple codes that are showing as not listed in the database
BAS Module: Can signals malfunction
AAM: B1041 Can Bus: Comm Control ESP/ETS
B1086 Can Bus: Comm Control AAM
B1040 Can Bus: Comm Control Engine Module
B1099 Can Bus: FBM

No access right now to STAR diagnostics. Do any of these point to a problem that I could solve?

Most relevant is C1100 front left speed sensor. Rectify that first.

Clear all faults, take is for a spin and see what comes back first.

Well, the initial problem appears to be that the retaining bolt for the sensor had fallen out. Tightened in and will see if that resolves.
