Hello,

What types of issues could be the cause of the ABS light staying on for a 1993 600 SL? What type of costs would I be looking at to get this fixed?

Thanks

faulted ABS module? roughly said about 1000 - 1500 EUR for a part and additional costs for labour.

I am not an expert, but if it is only one ABS sensor (ca 400 EUR for a part, you can replace it on your own) then this is much cheaper. But I think that if this would be a case, then also ASR light would be on.

Somebody with more experiences and knowledge must comment this.

or another ideas:

-only brake light switch gone (ca $20)
-brake booster has a sensor for a position (or something like that). If it is broken than most probably ABS system reports an error (dash light on)
-another sensor in the ABS circuit (I am not familiar with the exact functioning but you can check this forum - syljuarecently posted a link of an article which describes functioning of ASR and ABS system).
-check the fuses maybe it is only a fuse?
-disconnect the battery for 30 minutes or so and check the situation (unfortunately you will have to reprogram the seat and window memory)
